Access Statement

Arrival:

  • There are 12 designated parking spaces in the top car park adjacent to the restaurant.
  • The surface of the car park is compacted.
  • There is level or ramped access to the entrance and into the various shops and activities.
  • Pre-booking is recommended for all groups wishing to try the hands on activities in the pottery.
  • There is no entrance fee.

 

General Site Accessibility:

  • General accessibility around the site is good.
  • The site is on a slope with several steep inclines which manual wheelchair users may require assistance with, however there is also additional parking near the activities and craft shops on the lower areas.

Toilets: There are three designated toilets,

The designated toilet adjacent to the craft shops which provides:

  • Wheelchair turning space.
  • Space for right hand lateral transfer.
  • Room for a carer.
  • Grab rails.
  • Access to the washbasin.
  • Access to the hand dryer.

 

The designated toilet in the restaurant which provides:

  • Wheelchair turning space.
  • Space for right hand lateral transfer.
  • Room for a carer.
  • Grab rails.
  • Access to the washbasin.
  • Access to the hand dryer.

The designated toilet in Birchwood Lane near the pottery which provides:

  • Good wheelchair turning space.
  • Space for right hand lateral transfer.
  • Room for two carers.
  • Grab rails.
  • Access to the washbasin.
  • Access to the hand dryer.

N.B. this facility is accessed via a ramp and outward opening door which is operated by a slot mechanism so wheelchair users will require assistance to access it.

Restaurant/Tearoom/ Shop:

There is level access to the restaurant with sufficient access to the tables and the outside eating area.

Other:

  • Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site.
  • There are two manual wheelchairs available to loan from the restaurant and these can be pre booked if required.
